Problems in Laptops...

Pain Point #1 - Absence of the number keypad separately in the Laptop unlike the Keyboard.

Description - The Number keys are not given separately to the right as on a keyboard. Hence, each time you have to type numbers, you have to search for the numbers to avoid mistakes.

Solution - Manufacturing a small set of number keys to the right and simultaneously increasing the size to accommodate the number keys.

Pain Point #2 - Speakers not too effective in the current position and design of manufacturing.

Description – The speakers though set all around the keyboard area are not too effective when it comes to their actual use.

Solution – Make speaker area vaster. Could be expanded to the back portion of the screen.

Pain Point #3 – Accessibility of Data Ports is still an issue even if they are on the side.

Description – The data ports are set too close. You cannot plug in a portable mp3 player for charging and a USB cable together. In such a case one remains unconnected.

Solution – The Data ports have to set far apart from each other contrary to the current distance of about 0.5 cm.

Pain Point #4 – Improving Battery Life.

Description – Battery life is just for a few hours say 32.5 hrs on an average. This has to be improved. Even using extendable batteries to extend the life is not a very comfortable option as the battery is really huge in size and juts out of the back of the laptop in a not so comfortable manner.

Solution – Provide better life in the existing battery and make the extendable battery more sleek.

Pain Point #5 – Heating of the components while charging.

Description – While charging, the components get very hot and is a huge discomfort if the laptop is on your lap or in contact with any part of you.

Solution – Provide components which do not transmit heat so easily. Using Heat absorbent material which will not damage the good as well is the best option or using materials which will convert heat energy into some other form of energy while dissemination will be really good. Eg. Using the energy to light up the screen thus saving power.

Pain Point #6 – Long time taken to Boot.

Description – Time taken for the OS to load is always an issue with Computers and Laptops. This is more a fault of the hardware and the OS compatibility.

Solution – Designing an OS which is very compatible with the kind of microprocessor and optimizing the usage of all the features is very important.

Pain Point #7 – Making the mouse more ergonomic for people using it for longer periods of time.

Description – The mouse though today is very ergonomically designed, can still be enhanced to give more comfort to the user. After a while your hand could develop cramps as it is kept in the same position for long periods of time

Solution – Changing the material with which the mouse is manufactured and incorporating massage features. Also, the mouse can be made in the shape of the hand to fit it completely and operate properly just by moving it as per the natural hand movement.

Pain Point #8 – Using touch screen which identify fingerprints so that security is higher.

Description – The Laptops and desktops have the touch screen feature but not with the hand. Normally they use a pen or some other device.

Solution – Manufacturing laptops with screens which identify the fingerprints.

Pain Point #9 – Pen drives and most storage devices cannot transmit data wirelessly.

Description – Attaching the device to the laptop or desktop and searching for the appropriate wire and the ports to insert it into.

Solution – Bluetooth technology can be a feature on all the portable data storage devices.

Pain Point #10 – Pen drives and detachable data storage devices always ask for the ejection to be done before hand using the software in the pc or laptop.

Description – It is a pain to press the “Safe to remove Hardware” bubble on the desktop especially if the computer is hanging.

Solution – Keep a small button or switch on the pen drive which can be initiated in order to stop the data flow to and from the device and hence it can be detached without doing anything on the pc or laptop.

Pain Point #11 – Most laptops, even the smallest ones have 2 sides. They are like a book. Not an optimally used  design

Description – More features can be fit into a laptop if used in the other manner ie like a book. The space is more and it will be easier to handle the device.

Solution – Keypad o the right side and data appearing on the left side. Easier to read and handle because we are used to books since childhood.

Pain Point #12 – Laptops are bulky.

Description – The design of the laptop can be made even more compact by avoiding one side of it completely as it is bulky this way.

Solution - Can be made into a single screen which includes a touch screen keypad.
